Doris Fields received a Bachelor of Science, Masters of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Communication from Eastern Michigan University and Wayne State University. Dr. Fields began her academic career as a faculty member in The School of Communication, Media and Theatre Arts at Eastern Michigan University over two decades ago. Her professional interests focus on Interracial/Interethnic Communication and Intercultural Communication. Dr. Fields is the recipient of several awards/recognitions including: The Ronald W. Collins Distinguished Faculty II Award, Michigan Distinguished Professor of the Year Nominee, and Top 25 Women Professors in Michigan Recognition.
Doris Fields has been in her current administration position, Director of Undergraduate Studies since 2017. She provides academic leadership and support to colleges, academic programs, faculty and staff across the Eastern Michigan University campus. Dr. Fields’ current leadership projects include promoting student success as the Project Manager for Gateways to Completion (Retention Program), Project Manager Foundations of Excellence Transfer Focus, Project Manager for Portfolium (Student Success Tool), Higher Learning Commission Student Success Team member and University Assessment Committee Co-Chair. In addition, she serves on the Academic Plan for Success Initiative team, Academic Review Committee team and is a member of Student Emergency Fund Advisory Board.
